Pre purchase engine and generator inspection:

It’s rare to see a marine engine fail due to high engine hours. Usually it’s a failure of a sub assembly or something that requires routine maintenance or replacement.

Having a qualified mechanic survey the engine and surrounding area is the beginning of avoiding costly repairs in the short term and down the road as well as reducing any drama while using your boat.

Engine surveys include an oil analysis and inspection of the exhaust, cooling, fuel, transmission, electrical and engine alignment systems.

A cold start up is initially required, if any issues like misfire or rough idle are noted then a compression test may be recommended.

Noted issues and concerns are documented and usually become part of the negotiation process.
